Dentegra donation provided cleft repair surgeries for children

Marathon runners

There are nine brighter smiles in the world now.

Dentegra proudly sponsored Smile Train in the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 8. Our donation of $2,250 provided cleft lip and palate repair surgeries to children in developing countries.

We learned of the Smile Train sponsorship opportunity from Dentegra team member Sylvia Delgado, who ran in the marathon. Sylvia chose Smile Train as the charity to receive donations from friends and family sponsoring her run, and Dentegra was more than happy to be part of it.

Smile Train is an international charity that focuses on treating children in developing countries with untreated clefts. Children with clefts have difficulty eating, breathing, hearing and speaking, and they often live in isolation. A simple surgery makes an immediate transformation in their health and lives. Smile Train's sustainable model provides training, funding and resources to empower local doctors in 85+ developing countries to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their communities.
