In recognition of National Dental Hygiene Month, Hostos Community College held its annual Oral Cancer Screening on October 19, 2017.
Located in Bronx, NY, the college's Dental Hygiene Program hosted the event at its Dental Hygiene Patient Care Facility to provide free oral cancer screenings and reinforce to the community the importance of prevention. Forty-two community members were screened by second-year dental hygiene students, with oversight by senior students. A dentist conducted tongue and cheek exams.
We were excited to help sponsor the event. Dentegra Network Development Representative John Wilson met community residents and handed out toothbrushes.
The Dental Hygiene Program's mission includes promoting health and well-being by providing clinical dental hygiene care at its Dental Hygiene Patient Care Facility. For more information about the facility and its services, visit www.hostos.cuny.edu/Community/Clinics-Services.
